Michigan Apple Packer Food Safety is at the Highest Level with Jack Brown’s Apple Ridge Brand

At Jack Brown Produce, we have made food safety a hugely important part of our entire Michigan apple packer operation. It is our highest priority that all apples and other fruit grown, harvested, and shipped through Jack Brown Produce adhere to the USDA’s most stringent food standards through conducting regular audits to monitor water, soil, pest control methods, fertilizer use, harvest practices, and food safety and security procedures.

Each year, Jack Brown Produce passes a federal Good Handling Procedures Audit (GHP). This audit requires that our policies, procedures, and traceability are inspected. On top of Jack Brown’s audit, all of our growers are also required to pass a separate GHP audit each year.

One of the most vitally important things to Jack Brown Produce is the safe use of pesticides. We require all of our independent growers to be certified by the Michigan Department of Agriculture. It’s important to note that federal and state laws regulate the use of pesticides, so all of our growers meet those standards set by the U.S. EPA and the U.S. FDA. Our growers are also regularly inspected by the Michigan Department of Agriculture.
