Nyblad Orchards

Key Personnel:

Three brothers (Nels, Nick and Peter) and their families make up Nyblad Orchards. Nels operates Nels Nyblad Family Farms; Nick — New Leaf Orchards; Peter — Solstice Farms. They jointly pack and store their fruit at Nyblad Orchards.

Farm History:

The youngest members of the Nyblad family are 4th generation growers. As more
family members have become a part of the operation, they have purchased additional land, and currently have orchards throughout western Michigan including just north of Grand Rapids; in the Kent City area; in Newaygo County, and in the Traverse City area.

Varieties Grown:

Gala, Honeycrisp, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Jonagold, Jonathan, Rome,
Ida Red, Ginger Gold, Cortland, Empire, Fuji, McIntosh, Jonamac, Empire and Zestar.

Items of Interest:

To handle the increasing apple production from new plantings, the Nyblads are adding additional storage. Their new refrigerated and atmosphere-controlled storage will allow their apples to be kept in harvest-time condition well into the spring and summer months.
